Product Description
The Neogen b-glucan assay kit (K-BGLU) is an accurate, convenient, and reliable method for the measurement of mixed-linkage b-glucan in barley, malt, wort and beer. The method is straightforward allowing ~ 50-100 samples to be assayed in a day. An assay protocol for the measurement of b-glucan in oats and oat fiber products is also provided.
Samples are suspended and hydrated in a buffer solution of pH 6.5 and then incubated with purified lichenase enzyme and filtered. An aliquot of the filtrate is then hydrolysed to completion with purified b-glucosidase. The D-glucose produced is assayed using a glucose oxidase/peroxidase reagent.
